Jeff Joiner is an Assistant Professor of Practice, Director of FourDesign and chair of the Visual Communication Design Program. He received his MFA in Design with a Concentration in Design Research from the University of North Texas in Denton, TX. He has also taught in the design departments at both UNT and at Texas State University in San Marcos, TX.


Prior to his academic career, Jeff worked for nearly two decades as a professional designer, art director, and creative director for agencies and studios in Dallas, Austin, Los Angeles, Memphis and Jackson, MS. His work has been recognized by the American Advertising Federation Awards (the Addys) as well as industry publications Print, Graphis, LogoLounge, the US Ad Review and the Black Book AR100. Other recent achievements include the publication of a book chapter in Signs and Symbols in Workplace and Public and presentations on design and culture at international conferences in both Milan, Italy and Zadar, Croatia.


Over the last two years, his students have won Gold awards at the national Addys, a Best-of-Show and Special Judges’ Award at the 2014 DSVC National Student Show in Dallas, and have had work from his classes published in Luerzer’s Archive and Graphis.
